"Technology has made it harder to pull away from our jobs, and easier to wonder whether a night off or a long weekend is damaging our careers."

This is the pivotal point in the article, we need to learn how to use the technology to our advantage as we blend the duties of career, wife, mother, etc....

The problem is we work a 40 hour day in the office and then take it home and work 4 more hours each night.  We need to learn to negotiate and work a 40 hour week spread out during the day so we can attend school events, take care of sick children and have a more flexible schedule, not tack on an extra 4 or more hours to career every day.

If we use the technology available to us, we can do it all!  I think as a work force we need to move away from the traditional 8 hours a day at a desk mentality of the 50's and 60's, we do not need to work the 9 to 5 of the 70's and 80's.  We now have the ability to work a couple hours at the breakfast table, take a walk or go to the gym, return for a couple more hours before lunch, break at 3 to pick up the kids and spend a little time hearing about their day, getting a few more hours in before dinner, and then maybe after the kids get settled in for the night another hour or so wrapping up the day and prepping for tomorrow.  We need to adapt to the new work world and break free of the traditional hours.

Just a thought, I know when I am working on my own terms and at my own pace...I work better and give more.

Seriously.  Balancing work like, mom life, and being pregnant is unreal.  Don't even get me started.  Do I want to have a career or a family?  Why can't I have both!?!?!
